OD Alsobrook Scholarship
The O.D. Alsobrook Memorial Scholarship is given in celebration of the life of O.D. Alsobrook III. O.D. lived his life faithfully, serving others and using his God-given abilities to encourage and inspire those around him. O.D. was actively involved in the community, serving on the Opelika City Schools’ Board of Education for 19 years and as President of the Opelika Chamber of Commerce from 1996-1998. Most notably, however, O.D. carried out his ministry through his gift as a barber. He provided countless hours of free haircuts to men of all ages and with this gift, and he was able to build relationships that would develop into lifelong Christ-centered friendships.
The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize a student that uses a unique God-given talent to impact others in a positive way. The recipient is to be selected through a nomination process from their peers and/or members of the faculty. There are no minimum academic requirements to be eligible for this scholarship. Nominations will be submitted to the guidance office or to the faculty contact person, and, through that process, a group of finalists will be provided to the Alsobrook family for a final review and decision.
The nomination should include a brief description of the individual and how they use their gifts to help positively influence those around them.
The individual selected will be the recipient of a $500.00 scholarship paid directly to the student.
